Hello there and welcome to second and third grade. My name is Doug Grundy and I am so excited to be here at Kendrick Lakes Elementary and work with you this year. I have been a teacher for 23 years. I have taught second grade for 20 years, high school for 3 years, and gifted and talented classes for 15. I really enjoy my job working with you.
My teaching philosophy begins with creating a nurturing and safe learning community where we work together to reach our highest potential. I also work to instill independence and autonomy in students as they work through the learning process. I truly believe in building a strong community with the students and their families within our school. Let me tell you a few things about me that you might be interested to know about me.
I was born in Denver, Colorado in 1972. That makes me how old? Luckily, I still feel young at heart. I was in the U.S. Army for two years after graduating high school at Bear Creek. I went to college in Columbia, Missouri and I earned a teaching degree there. I later got a masters degree in Gifted Education from the University of Northern Colorado under the tutelage of George Betts. I am married to a wonderful woman named Kate. She and I have two beautiful children Eli and Phin, and a dog named Cookie. As for me, I love to teach, ride my bike, watch the Denver Broncos, and go swimming in the sun.
Once again, I am really looking forward to working, playing, and most of all learning with all of you. If you have any questions or concerns my door is open. You can reach me by email at:
